Early doors

We left Fowey before 0700, and put a reefed main up on the buoy, a first time for that. We were motoring into mist and mizzle. Thank heaven the seas had abated overnight. There was no wind to speak of so we resigned ourselves to motorsailing.

Off Dodman point, we realised there was enough wind to sail. At first it was fine sailing, then rain set in and the wind died after an hour and a half. Back to motoring. When the wind came back, it was dead ahead so we motored through gaffers racing at hair raising speed, past St Anthony Head and into busy Falmouth harbour.

We made for the Haven marina, refurbished and expensive, and found a good berth alongside. Later we warped the boat around to avoid the forecast big winds blowing into the cockpit. Nic had forgotten to bring an essential bit of kit - a wireless charger for his phone whose charging port is kaput. So off we went to a phone shop and got another to be kept aboard. Lesley went to Musto to buy a light sailing coat with hood.

Later we sallied forth to have dinner at an achingly hip seafood tapas restaurant close to the Marina called Verdant. Oysters, scallops and microbrewery beer were consumed. Still reeling with tiredness, we headed back to Sirena V, ready for bed.
